Koenigsegg and ICON present the world’s first production megacar at Hannover Messe

Windsor, UK and Ängelholm, Sweden 14 April 2016

ICON collaborated in a Case Study with Koenigsegg, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance sports cars based in Sweden. Their brief was to develop the world’s first production megacar (1MW of power output).

This required equally ground-breaking aerodynamic capabilities which are normally beyond the means of an SME such as Koenigsegg. The Fortissimo Case Study allowed a new cloud-based business model to be developed and analysed. This allowed Koenigsegg to conduct 100% of the aerodynamic development of the Koenigsegg One:1 using HPC-based CFD simulations in the cloud. In less than eight months, hundreds of simulations were carried out to test various configurations. The results were an impressive 250% increase in down-force with only a 15% increase in drag at 250km/h and with a 50% higher down-force at 440km/h, the ground-breaking vehicle’s maximum speed.

The Koenigsegg One:1 megacar and the ICON cloud-based simulation platform, used to develop the car, will be shown at Hannover Messe 2016.

Barack Obama, President of the United States will join German Chancellor Angela Merkel to open HANNOVER MESSE 2016.

ICON introduces iconPlatform at iconCFD Conferences in Japan and China

ICON is pleased to announce the launch of iconPlatform, a unique approach to simulation through web-browser based “Apps”.

These Apps are focused on ease of use and robustness. The Apps have a simple look and feel, and are based on a straightforward workflow where the user: (1) uploads the geometries for simulation, (2) provides the required input parameters, (3) submits their case, and finally (4) receives a presentation containing all the post-processed data required for engineering analysis. The first of a growing list of industry specific Apps is for Automotive External Aerodynamics CFD.

ICON is pleased to announce their iconCFD Conference at the IDAJ CAE Solutions Conference (ICSC) taking place in Shanghai, China in November 2014.

ICON presents the latest developments in iconPlatform

In 2014 ICON presented a novel way to do CFD in the web browser by unveiling its so called iconPlatform.

This year ICON will present new features such as fast 3D iso-surface rendering in the browser, support for mobile devices, and demonstrate how the platform can be adopted for the deployment of an end-to-end external aerodynamics CFD process. The economic and technical advantages for industrial users as well as process developers are put forward, and a special time-limited offer to new users will be announced.
