Koenigsegg Acquires iconCFD Process and Selects ICON as its Exclusive CFD Technical Partner

Windsor, UK and Ängelholm, Sweden – April 2013

Swedish Hypercar developer and manufacturer, Koenigsegg Automotive AB (Koenigsegg), have recently engaged ICON to expand their in-house Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) capabilities. Koenigsegg will drive its product design using a new dedicated super computer together with strategic collaboration with new preferred CFD software and services supplier, ICON.

ICON, worldwide leader in CFD open source software development, is providing its powerful and flexible CFD process, iconCFD, enabling Koenigsegg to push the boundaries of their aerodynamic design, both for in-house and third party projects.

Koenigsegg use CFD to model various internal and external surfaces and to compute the optimal shapes that deliver high end performance results making the Agera and upcoming models market leaders. CFD also enables Koenigsegg Engineering the ability to offer its clients leading edge support.

Jon Gunner, Technical Director at Koenigsegg said “We are delighted to be using iconCFD in our simulation activities. The licence-free solver technology, combined with support from ICON’s application and development team, are ensuring a powerful, cost-effective use of resources at Koenigsegg.”

David Green, Commercial Director at ICON said: “We are very happy to be supporting Koenigsegg with their specific CFD process requirements. ICON’s long term investment into its international workforce and various CFD technology developments, has once again delivered high value-add, fully supported, industrial applications of open source CFD technology for its client.”

 About iconCFD (www.iconCFD.com/process)

Open source solving and meshing tools offer customers a cost-effective and customisable solution to fulfil their CFD Simulation requirements. The limiting factor in adopting open source-based processes in industry is often the lack of technical support, quality assurance and a robust, easy-to-use process from meshing to post-processing. Through a long established subscription service, iconCFD customers enjoy first class CFD tools, including a purpose-built GUI, combined with industrial support, embedded within a professional environment.
