ICON has been utilising automatic optimisation in its CAE design activities for over four years. This provides the client with a greater understanding of their design problem and allows informed choices to be made when the post-processed data is presented in a form that shows the extent of the options and the likely results of any design trade-off decisions.

ICON employs the multi-disciplinary optimisation tool modeFRONTIER. The software allows easy coupling to almost any commercial or in-house computer aided engineering (CAE) tool. Within this software environment it is possible to integrate a variety of tools such as: CAD, Finite Element Structural Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), 1D fluid flow analysis, etc. ICON has successfully applied this software in numerous processes involving CFD analysis.
